Emily Nachison

2016 Artist In Residence
February 11- March 22, 2016

Long Lost is a project exploring American mysticism through the folklore and traditions of the Pennsylvania Dutch and early European settlers in the North Eastern United States. Nachison's installation includes custom glass forms and hand stitched textiles.

Long Lost is titled after John George Hohman's book POW-Wows, or Long Lost Friend. Originally published in 1820 near Reading, Pennsylvania, under the German title Der Lange Verborgene Freund. The Long-Lost Friend draws from the traditional folk magic and healing of Pennsylvania Dutch customs.

The rubble that each war leaves behind shapes today and tomorrow, physically, psychologically, spiritually, and culturally.
